Cernita runs entirely on your iPhone, so most questions are about how iOS handles your photos and purchases. The answers below cover the ones we hear most.
Where do deleted photos go?
Nowhere permanent, at first. Every batch you confirm moves to the Recently Deleted album in the Photos app, where iOS keeps it for 30 days. Open Photos, go to Albums, scroll to Utilities, and tap Recently Deleted to recover anything. The space is freed when that album empties, either after 30 days or when you tap Delete All there.
Why has my free space not changed?
Because of the point above. Cernita's storage meter shows the free space iOS reports, and iOS still counts Recently Deleted photos until they are gone for good. Empty Recently Deleted to see the number move right away.
What does trimming a video do?
Trim saves the part between the two handles as a new video with the original date, then moves the full-length original to Recently Deleted. The new clip stays in your library and counts as one review. Slo-mo and Cinematic videos cannot be trimmed yet.
What does the rotate button do?
Each tap turns the card 90 degrees clockwise, and the turn stays a preview until you decide. Keep the photo and Cernita saves the turns to Apple Photos as an in-place edit, so Revert to Original is still there; iOS asks you to allow the change, and nothing is saved if you cancel. Swipe left to delete and the turns are dropped with the photo. A rotation is not a review, so it never uses a free swipe. The button does not appear on Live Photos, GIFs, slo-mo, or Cinematic videos, which cannot be rotated this way.
I paid, but the app still says my free swipes are used up
Tap Restore Purchases on the unlock screen, or in Your progress. This asks Apple to confirm the purchase on this device. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account you bought with. If the purchase was made by someone in your Family Sharing group, Restore Purchases picks it up too, as long as Share Purchases is on in the family settings.
Does one purchase cover my family?
Yes. The lifetime unlock is a single purchase with Family Sharing turned on. Everyone in your Family Sharing group gets the unlock on their own iPhone, with their own photos and their own decisions.
Where is the Biggest first sort?
Open the library with the grid button, then the sort button in the top-left corner. Biggest first appears once the app has measured the size of every photo and video, which runs in the background after the first launch. On a very large library the menu shows a percentage while it works.
Some photos show no size
Photos that live only in iCloud and have not been downloaded to this iPhone sometimes report no size. They sort last under Biggest first and show as "Size unknown" in the library.
My stats look different on another device
Lifetime stats and badges sync through iCloud and merge upward, so the higher count wins on both devices. Your place in the deck stays on each device on purpose.
